Update to the Deep Draft Working Group Navigation Guidelines
Revised Navigation Guidelines were issued for the Port of NY/NJ – complete details are available in COAST GUARD ADVISORY NOTICE (CGAN 2022-009). Important to note – prior to starting a ULCV inbound from Ambrose the berth must be confirmed “clear”.
Shipping 101 September 19-23
The Maritime Association is dedicated to developing a well-informed network of leaders in the maritime industry who are prepared to cross boundaries between sectors, work effectively in the intermodal atmosphere, and work in a spirit of a shared commitment to supply chain success. The Association is proud to host educational functions to further develop future maritime leaders. Shipping 101 is a comprehensive 32-hour interactive course that reviews the entire ocean shipping process. From maritime history, export/import processing, geography, key terminology, and marine operations, Shipping 101 offers a wide variety of competencies needed to navigate the maritime industry. Captain Brian McAllister
We are saddened to hear of the passing of Captain Brian McAllister. Captain McAllister was a long time champion and member of the Maritime Association while also being a beloved member of the New York Maritime Community. He cared deeply for the men and women who worked with him on the water. Meet the Inductee, John A. Witte, Jr., President and CEO, Donjon Marine, Co., Inc.
John A. Witte, Jr. is President and CEO of Donjon Marine, Co., Inc., officially taking over for his father in January 2021. After spending his youth following his father as he built Donjon Marine from a two-man operation, Mr. Witte initially was a Diver and Salvage Technician and has also served as an Assistant Salvage Master, Salvage Master, and Project Manager. He served as Project Manager for the Federal Salvage Response to Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in the Gulf of Mexico. Over his forty plus years with Donjon Marine, Mr. Witte has participated in, and ultimately directed, Donjon’s activities in virtually all of Donjon’s Marine and related activities. Mr. Witte is also Director and provides oversight guidance to one of Donjon’s more recent endeavors, Donjon Shipbuilding & Repair, LLC, the largest shipyard of its kind on the Great Lakes.
